At SevenSpark, your privacy is important to us.  This document outlines the information that we collect when you visit our site, which helps us administer your account and provide services such as support and updates.

We have a few fundamental principles that we follow:

  • We don’t ask for your personal information unless we truly need it
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of our site

 

Website visitors

Like most website operators, SevenSpark collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preferences, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request.  SevenSpark’s purpose in collecting non-personally-identifying information is to better understand how SevenSpark’s visitors use its website.  From time to time, SevenSpark may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g. by publishing a report on trends and the usage of its website.

SevenSpark also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our blogs.  SevenSpark only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

 

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to SevenSpark’s websites choose to interact with SevenSpark in ways that require SevenSpark to gather personally-identifying information.  The amount and type of information that SevenSpark gathers depends on the nature of the interaction.  For example, we ask visitors who comment on our blog to provide a username and email address.  Those who wish to receive SevenSpark updates via email, we collect their emails.

In each case, SevenSpark collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with SevenSpark. SevenSpark does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

 

Aggregated Statistics

SevenSpark may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, SevenSpark may monitor the most popular pages on the sevenspark.com site or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. SevenSpark may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, SevenSpark does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

 

Information Disclosure & Protection

SevenSpark discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on SevenSpark’s behalf or to provide services available at SevenSpark’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using SevenSpark’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them.

SevenSpark will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.

Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, SevenSpark discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when SevenSpark believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of SevenSpark, third parties or the public at large.

If you are a registered user of a SevenSpark website and have supplied your email address, SevenSpark may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with SevenSpark and our products. We primarily use our various product blogs to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum.

If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users.

SevenSpark takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information, including using SSL encryption and security systems to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of information we hold.

 

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. SevenSpark uses cookies to help SevenSpark identify and track visitors, their usage of the SevenSpark website, and their website access preferences. SevenSpark visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using SevenSparks’ websites, with the drawback that certain features of SevenSpark’ websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

 

Business Transfers

If SevenSpark, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that SevenSpark goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of SevenSpark may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.

 

Ads

Ads appearing on any of our websites may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by SevenSpark and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

 

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

 

Support ticket forms

When you submit a support ticket or pre-purchase question, the data that you enter, such as name, email address, license code, and message are stored on our servers.

We collect anonymized visitor data via Google Analytics in compliance with GDPR regulations.

Digital Downloads / Store Purchases

We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store. This information may include, but is not limited to, your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and any other details that might be requested from you for the purpose of processing your orders.

Handling this data also allows us to:

  • Send you important account/order/service information.
  • Respond to your queries, refund requests, or complaints.
  • Process payments and to prevent fraudulent transactions. We do this on the basis of our legitimate business interests.
  • Set up and administer your account, provide technical and/or customer support, and to verify your identity.

Additionally we may also collect the following information:

  • Location and traffic data (including IP address and browser type) if you place an order, or if we need to estimate taxes and shipping costs based on your location.
  • Product pages visited and content viewed while your session is active.
  • Your comments and product reviews if you choose to leave them on our website.
  • Account email/password to allow you to access your account, if you have one.
  • If you choose to create an account with us, your name, address, and email address, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

 

Payment processors

During the checkout process, your payment information, including credit card, billing address, name, etc, is transmitted to Stripe or PayPal (depending on which service you choose when checking out).  These payment processors handle the secure processing of your payment such that we can accept your online order.

Note that we never store your credit cart information on our servers.
