How to make a menu item link open in new window

This is actually a built-in WordPress feature.

1. In the Appearance > Menus screen, click Screen Options in the upper right.

   

2. Then, under Show advanced menu properties, check “Link Target”

   

3. Then check the “Open link in a new window/tab” option on your menu item
